Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Revenue GrowthConsistent revenue expansion across recent years, with acceleration in 2023 and continued growth through 2025, indicates a durable core lending and deposit franchise. That track record supports predictable net interest income and fee generation for medium-term earnings stability.
Improving Balance SheetMaterial reduction in leverage and rising equity in 2025 strengthens capital buffers and regulatory resilience. A healthier balance sheet increases lending capacity and reduces funding risk, supporting sustained credit intermediation and strategic flexibility over months to years.
Free Cash Flow QualityFree cash flow closely tracking net income and showing strong growth in 2025 signals high earnings quality and reliable cash generation. Sustainable FCF supports reinvestment in lending, capital needs, and shareholder returns without eroding liquidity over the medium term.
Bears Say
Margin PressureAlthough profitability rebounded in 2025, margins remain materially below the 2021–2022 highs, indicating structural normalization or persistent cost/competitive pressures. This sustained margin gap constrains long-term return potential and increases sensitivity to funding costs.
Weak Operating Cash CoveragePersistently very low operating cash flow coverage, despite positive free cash flow, indicates limited operating liquidity cushion. That raises risk that adverse credit or funding shocks would more quickly pressure cash availability and require active balance-sheet management.
Elevated Leverage Vs. Peers/HistoryEven after improvement, leverage is still meaningful relative to the bank's more conservative historical posture. Elevated leverage reduces capital flexibility, increases vulnerability to credit losses or interest-rate swings, and could necessitate capital actions under stress.
