In a letter to Amazon CEO Andy Jassy, U.S. Senators Peter Welch of Vermont and Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts expressed concerns that the ecommerce giant’s virtual care platform is “harvesting” patient health data, Politico’s Ben Leonard, Erin Schumaker, and Carmen Paun report. In the letter, the lawmakers highlighted recent reporting in The Washington Post that Amazon Clinic mandates that patients sign a form giving the company “complete” access to their consumer health records, the authors note. “Amazon Clinic customers deserve to fully understand why Amazon is collecting their health care data and what the company is doing with it,” Welch and Warren wrote.
