The opening hour of the evening session is seeing the continuation of investor sentiment souring on high-flying Tech and Consumer sensitive names, with S&P 500 e-minis down another 0.3% and Nasdaq 100 down by 0.5%. Risk-off environment is also weighing on the commodity space, with WTI Crude Oil down 0.5% for the third straight day toward $60 per barrel, Copper down another 0.7% to two-week lows near $4.90, and Gold/Silver offering no place to hide – both are trading modestly lower.

Tech and Consumer Discretionary were the worst performing sectors on the S&P 500 on Tuesday while defensively-oriented Consumer Staples and Health Care outperformed. Treasuries also rallied across the curve while risk-gauge Vix topped 20 for the first time in two weeks. The PM earnings slate has also not offered any respite to valuation-driven market fear, with several high-profile names such as AMD (AMD) dropping despite better than expected results.
