Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Modern Oral GrowthRapid Modern Oral adoption is shifting TPB toward a faster-growing nicotine category. Its rising share of company sales, combined with sharply upgraded 2026 guidance, can support durable revenue growth and improve the product mix.
Distribution ExpansionBroader retail distribution creates a lasting route-to-market advantage for FRE and ALP. Increased shelf access, sales capabilities and brand investment should improve consumer reach and provide a platform for continued category penetration.
Profitability And Balance SheetStrong gross margins and healthy operating profitability indicate an established earnings base, while materially lower leverage reduces financial risk. The stronger capital structure gives TPB more flexibility to fund growth without relying heavily on additional debt.
Bears Say
Weak Cash ConversionCash generation is materially weaker than accounting profit, suggesting working-capital or investment demands are absorbing earnings. Persistent weak conversion could constrain reinvestment, debt reduction and the ability to scale Modern Oral profitably.
PMTA Regulatory UncertaintyUncertain premarket authorization timing creates a structural risk for Modern Oral expansion. Delays or unfavorable regulatory outcomes could limit product availability, disrupt rollout plans and reduce the return on current manufacturing and marketing investments.
Legacy Segment And Margin PressureWeakness in Zig-Zag and tariff-related Stoker's margin compression offset growth elsewhere. If legacy declines or input-cost pressure persist, TPB may face a less favorable mix and need higher spending to protect distribution and profitability.

Company Description
Turning Point Brands
Turning Point Brands, Inc., along with its affiliated companies, is engaged in the creation, promotion, and distribution of a diverse array of branded consumer products. Its operations are structured into three distinct divisions: Zig-Zag Products, Stoker's Products, and NewGen Products. The Zig-Zag Products division focuses on the marketing and distribution of rolling papers, cigarette tubes, pre-rolled cigars, 'make-your-own' cigar wraps, and related accessories, all sold under the well-known Zig-Zag brand. Conversely, the Stoker's Products division is responsible for manufacturing and commercializing moist snuff and loose-leaf chewing tobacco products. These are offered under several brand names including Stoker's, Beech-Nut, Durango, Trophy, and Wind River. The NewGen Products segment caters to individual consumers by marketing and distributing cannabidiol (CBD) isolate, liquid vapor items, and various other offerings free from tobacco and/or nicotine. This is achieved through its direct-to-consumer online platform, VaporFi, and its non-traditional retail outlet, VaporBeast. TPB's goods are supplied to a broad network of wholesale distributors and retail partners, encompassing independent and chain convenience stores, specialized tobacco shops, grocery stores, major retailers, and pharmacies. Originally established as North Atlantic Holding Company, Inc., the corporation adopted its current name, Turning Point Brands, Inc., in November 2015. Founded in 1988, Turning Point Brands, Inc. maintains its corporate headquarters in Louisville, Kentucky.
TPB Earnings Call
Q2 2026
0:00 / 0:00
Earnings Call Sentiment|Positive
The call highlights substantial and accelerating growth in the Modern Oral category (167% gross, 133% net YoY), a raised full‑year Modern Oral guidance, strong consolidated revenue and adjusted EBITDA that exceeded midpoint guidance, meaningful retail chain wins and considerable investment in commercial infrastructure and manufacturing to scale the business. Offsetting these positives are near‑term financial pressures: negative Q1 free cash flow (-$27.4M), higher SG&A and marketing spend, Zig‑Zag sales weakness (-22%), tariff‑driven margin pressure in legacy Stoker's, regulatory (PMTA) timing uncertainty and a wide EBITDA guidance range tied to execution and discretionary spend. On balance, management is prioritizing aggressive, front‑loaded investments to capture share in a nascent category and has the cash and operational plan to support that pivot, while acknowledging short‑term profitability and cash‑flow tradeoffs.View all TPB earnings summariesTPB Stock 12 Month Forecast
