Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Diversified Growth PlatformsGrowth across Four and Purchasing Power broadens PROG’s revenue base beyond its core leasing business. Four’s profitable triple-digit expansion and Purchasing Power’s improving contribution can support stronger scale, cross-platform reach, and more durable consolidated growth.
Raised 2026 OutlookHigher full-year revenue and EBITDA guidance indicates management sees the current operating momentum as sufficiently durable to improve expected results. The outlook is supported by contributions from Four, Purchasing Power, and renewed Progressive Leasing GMV growth.
Deleveraging And LiquidityDebt repayment and improved net leverage strengthen financial flexibility after the Purchasing Power acquisition. Combined with substantial liquidity and positive operating cash flow, this gives PROG more capacity to fund operations, manage volatility, and allocate capital.
Bears Say
Elevated Lease Write-offsWrite-offs above the company’s target range indicate worsening loss pressure in the largest operating segment. If elevated losses persist, they can reduce portfolio profitability, absorb cash, and limit the benefit of renewed GMV growth over the coming quarters.
Muted Core Revenue GrowthFlat-to-down revenue shows that transaction growth has not yet translated into durable top-line expansion across the business. The smaller leasing portfolio also leaves PROG dependent on execution from newer platforms to offset weakness in its core revenue base.
Consumer And Macro SensitivityPROG’s lease-to-own and retail-financing economics depend on customer repayment behavior, making results sensitive to employment and household-cost conditions. A deterioration beyond management’s assumptions could increase delinquencies and write-offs while weakening demand.

Company Description
PROG Holdings
PROG Holdings, Inc. functions as a multi-channel financial services firm, specializing in lease-to-own programs for individuals with limited credit access or those traditionally considered underserved. The company's operations are divided into two distinct segments. The Progressive Leasing division provides customers with rent-to-own options for a diverse array of merchandise, such as furniture, household appliances, electronic gadgets, jewelry, mobile phones and their accessories, mattresses, and automobile electronics and fittings. These services are delivered through various touchpoints, including in-store, mobile, and online channels, often in collaboration with point-of-sale and e-commerce retail partners. Meanwhile, the Vive segment extends "second-chance" and revolving credit solutions, utilizing both its own and co-branded credit cards. These offerings are specifically tailored for consumers who might not qualify for conventional prime credit facilities. Across 49 U.S. states and the District of Columbia, PROG Holdings' lease-purchase solutions are made available through a vast network of approximately 24,000 third-party retail partner locations and their corresponding e-commerce platforms. Founded in 1955 and based in Draper, Utah, the company underwent a name change from Aaron's Holdings Company, Inc. to PROG Holdings, Inc. in December 2020.

Earnings Call Sentiment|Positive
The call presented a decidedly positive operational and financial story: consolidated GMV surged 60%, revenue and adjusted EBITDA beat guidance, Four delivered profitable triple-digit growth, Purchasing Power integration produced meaningful margin improvement, and Progressive Leasing returned to GMV growth with strong segment profitability. Offsetting risks include elevated Progressive Leasing write-offs (8.4% in Q2), revenue pressure from a smaller leasing portfolio, and ongoing consumer stress from inflation and gas prices. Management raised full-year guidance while acknowledging macro sensitivities and maintaining discipline on portfolio decisioning.View all PRG earnings summariesPRG Revenue Breakdown
