Bulls Say, Bears Say

Bulls Say
Upgraded 2026 GuidanceManagement's explicit guidance for double-digit constant-currency revenue growth and entry into a >32% CORE EBITDA corridor demonstrates durable operational leverage and disciplined margin expansion. This implies sustainable profit improvement from higher contract volumes and efficiency gains over the medium term.
Large Contracting PipelineA CHF 10bn+ contracting backlog provides long-term revenue visibility and de-risks growth by locking in multi-year manufacturing and supply agreements. For a CDMO, this converts capacity investments into predictable future cash flows and supports steady utilization over several years.
High‑Margin PlatformsStrong organic growth in high-margin platforms like Advanced Synthesis (margins ~42%) demonstrates portfolio quality and pricing power. High-margin businesses anchor overall profitability, improving resilience to top-line volatility and enabling reinvestment into specialized capacity.
Bears Say
Weak Cash ConversionPersistently negative free cash flow and low operating cash conversion versus reported earnings constrain financial flexibility. Over the medium term this limits capacity to pay down debt, fund buybacks or increase returns without continued high capex or asset sales, raising funding risk.
CapEx And Working Capital IntensitySustained high capital spending and elevated working capital needs compress free cash flow and elongate payback periods. Large, multi-year growth projects increase execution risk and require reliable contracting to earn returns; failure or delays could dilute returns and postpone cash generation.
Operational Risk In Specialized ModalitiesOperational setbacks in Cell & Gene and other specialized modalities risk delaying revenue recognition, harming customer trust, and requiring remediation spend. Given these areas are strategic growth drivers, execution failures can materially slow long-term expansion and raise competitive vulnerability.
