Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Strong Cash GenerationConsistent operating cash flow and positive free cash flow provide durable internal funding for fleet investment, maintenance, dividends and debt reduction. This cash-generation ability cushions cyclicality in travel demand and supports strategic flexibility over the next several quarters.
Improving Leverage And Sizeable EquityDeclining absolute debt and a sizeable equity base lower financial risk for an inherently cyclical airline. Improved leverage increases capacity to absorb demand shocks, finance fleet renewal and pursue strategic initiatives without excessive refinancing risk over the medium term.
Revenue Recovery And Diversified RevenuesSustained revenue growth off the downturn, supported by passenger, cargo, loyalty and engineering streams, indicates broader demand restoration and revenue diversification. This mix reduces reliance on any single source and supports more stable top-line performance over months ahead.
Bears Say
Earnings And Gross Profit CompressionMaterial decline in net income and gross profit versus FY2024–FY2025 signals margin pressure and weaker profitability sustainability. If structural yields or cost bases do not recover, returns and capacity to fund growth without external capital could be constrained over the medium term.
Declining Free Cash Flow TrendA downward trajectory in free cash flow reduces excess cushion for capex, debt paydown or shareholder returns. Continued decline would limit strategic optionality and increase reliance on external financing during industry slowdowns or elevated capital spending cycles.
Capital-intensive Model & Sizable Absolute DebtAirline operations require ongoing heavy capex and fleet investment; maintain high absolute debt even as leverage improves. This combination heightens sensitivity to demand shocks and interest costs, potentially pressuring margins and ROIC if earnings fail to reaccelerate.
