Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Cash GenerationSustained positive operating and free cash flow over the trailing twelve months provides durable liquidity to fund inventory resets, outlet rollouts and working-capital needs without immediate capital raises. Strong cash conversion reduces refinancing risk and supports execution of multi-quarter turnaround initiatives.
Margin Expansion & Cost CutsA 430bp gross-margin gain combined with meaningful SG&A reductions demonstrates structural levers (mix, lower freight/duties, cost discipline) that can convert revenue into sustainable profit improvement. If maintained, these margin gains underpin multi-quarter operating-loss reduction and stronger earnings durability.
Retail & Product MomentumNew wholesale distribution with Nordstrom plus recent retailer collaborations and rapid product sell-throughs signal expanding brand reach and assortment-market fit. Diversified channels (DTC, outlets, select wholesale) and stronger product demand improve revenue durability and lower dependency on any single sales channel.
Bears Say
Ongoing UnprofitabilityDespite operational gains, the company remains loss-making on a TTM basis, eroding returns and limiting reinvestment capacity. Persistent negative margins strain equity returns and require continued margin improvement and consistent top-line growth over multiple quarters to meaningfully restore profitability and ROE.
Wholesale Growth FragilityReliance on one-off wholesale collaborations to drive indirect sales creates revenue volatility and questions the sustainability of wholesale momentum. If major partner shipments are not repeatable, underlying wholesale demand may revert, undermining multi-quarter revenue projections and complicating inventory/production planning.
Inventory & External Cost RisksResidual discontinued-inventory reserves and the need to rebuild core assortments leave inventory and margin exposure. Ongoing Section 301 tariff uncertainty (expected ~10%–12.5%) can reintroduce cost pressure. Together these factors can impair margin sustainability and require continued execution to normalize turns and margins.

ELI Earnings Call
Q1 2026
0:00 / 0:00
Earnings Call Sentiment|Positive
The call communicated clear and measurable operational progress across revenue, gross margin (up 430 bps), SG&A reduction ($5.6M) and inventory management (down 26%), plus product and marketing momentum and digital/wholesale initiatives. However, the company remains unprofitable this quarter, with negative cash flow and exposure to macro headwinds and some one-off wholesale collaboration effects. On balance, the improvements are substantive and recurring levers (margin expansion, cost discipline, inventory control, product-market fit) appear to be driving a sustainable recovery trajectory.View all DE:ELI earnings summaries
