Q3 2026 Earnings Call Summary
Earnings Call Sentiment|Positive
The call was strongly positive overall. Management reported robust category, brand, international, private label, profitability, cash generation, and guidance trends, while expressing high confidence in the Copra integration and long-term growth opportunity. The principal challenges were supply-chain execution, container and port congestion, near-term capacity constraints, higher transportation and input costs, and an expected fourth-quarter gross margin decline to approximately 33%.Company Guidance
Strong Third-Quarter Net Sales Growth
Third-quarter net sales increased 34% year over year to $244 million, driven by Vita Coco coconut water net sales growth of 15% and private label growth of 152%. Organic growth was 18%, with Copra contributing $29 million in the Americas.
Healthy Coconut Water Category Trends
Year-to-date U.S. coconut water category retail dollar sales grew 28%, while measured European markets grew 66%. Vita Coco coconut water, excluding coconut milk-based products such as Treats, grew 27% in U.S. retail dollars and 54% in measured European markets.
Strong Americas Performance
Americas net sales grew 31% to $199 million. Vita Coco coconut water net sales increased 8% to $143 million, supported by a 9% volume increase despite a slight net price mix decline. Private label net sales increased 224% to $46 million, driven by 110% volume growth and a 54% price mix increase.
Exceptional International Growth
International net sales increased 48%. International Vita Coco coconut water net sales grew 57%, while private label increased 27%. Management highlighted particularly strong performance in Germany, where growth rates were over 100%, and in the U.K., where scan-based growth was in the 30s.
Household Penetration and Brand Momentum
Management estimated that just over half of year-to-date U.S. Vita Coco branded business growth came from increased household penetration, with the remainder coming from velocity growth per household. Management said this pattern signals strong brand momentum and potential.
Copra Integration Progressing Smoothly
The Copra acquisition has operated smoothly since closing in late July, and management said integration progress has exceeded expectations. The company described Copra as a high-quality Nam Hom premium production capability with strong retailer relationships and significant potential.
Super-Premium Segment Opportunity
Management estimated that the super-premium chilled segment represents approximately 13% of U.S. coconut water sales, is growing faster than the overall category year to date, and has retail price points nearly double those of shelf-stable coconut water.
Supply Chain Capacity Expansion
The company is adding new factory partnerships, supporting existing partners as they expand capacity, and investing in long-term supply capabilities. Management expects current and near-term additional capacity to support a continuation of current volume growth trends into next year and beyond.
Planned Product Innovation
The company plans to launch Vita Coco sports-inspired flavors in lemon lime, blue raspberry, and fruit punch; Vita Coco Kids in a six-pack of 8-ounce pure coconut water; a new 310 ml slim can primarily targeted at food service; and a new Piña Colada flavor for Vita Coco Treats.
Innovation Targets Younger Consumers and New Occasions
Management said Treats has brought in consumers who had never previously consumed the brand and expects the sports-inspired flavors and Vita Coco Kids to bring in new young consumers, households, consumption occasions, and channels. The company also highlighted its communication that Vita Coco coconut water has 3.5x the electrolytes of a sport drink.
Improved Profitability in the Quarter
Consolidated gross profit increased $24 million to $93 million, while gross margin was 38%, broadly in line with the prior year. Net income attributable to shareholders increased to $35 million, or $0.58 per diluted share, from $24 million, or $0.40 per diluted share. Adjusted EBITDA rose to $53 million, or 22% of net sales, from $32 million, or 18% of net sales.
Raised Full-Year Guidance
The company raised full-year expectations to net sales of $810 million to $820 million and adjusted EBITDA of $170 million to $175 million, with expected full-year gross margins of approximately 40%. The outlook assumes U.S. category growth in the mid-20s on a percentage basis, consolidated Vita Coco coconut water net sales growth of approximately low 20%, and U.S. Vita Coco net sales growth in the high teens.
Strong Private Label Outlook
The company now expects full-year U.S. private label net sales growth of 110%-120%, supported by strong U.S. category growth, increased distribution, and the inclusion of Copra.
Solid Balance Sheet and Share Repurchases
As of September 30, 2026, the company had $152 million of cash and no debt under its revolving credit facility. It repurchased approximately $42 million of shares during the quarter and an additional $8 million after quarter-end, bringing cumulative year-to-date repurchases to $70 million, with $11 million remaining under the $105 million authorization.
Healthy Underlying Cash Generation
Year-to-date net income was $115 million, inventory declined by $33 million, and net working capital was a $4 million outflow. Management described underlying cash generation as very healthy.
Expected SG&A Leverage
The company expects SG&A leverage of approximately 1.5 points as a percentage of sales for 2026. Management attributed the improvement to stronger top-line growth and Copra integration costs coming in lower than previously expected while continuing to invest in headcount and marketing.
Long-Term Capacity Plan
Management expects capacity utilization to remain high early in 2027, with additional capacity coming online during the year. Based on current assumptions for growth and capacity timing, the company expects to operate under its preferred 85% utilization model in 2028.
Supply Chain Diversification and Concentrate Flexibility
The company is diversifying its supplier base for geographic, political, and environmental reasons. Management also said concentrate-based products can be produced closer to markets, potentially avoiding ocean freight and allowing faster responses to innovation demand.
