Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Direct-to-Consumer GrowthSustained improvement in the Direct channel shows stronger customer engagement across stores and digital commerce, reducing reliance on wholesale partners. Continued comparable-sales gains and progress in both full-price and outlet formats can support more durable revenue growth and brand relevance.
Cash Generation And Inventory ControlStrong operating and free cash flow, combined with sharply lower inventory, indicates better working-capital discipline and improved operational execution. This strengthens internal funding capacity, reduces merchandise risk, and gives management flexibility to invest while the earnings recovery continues.
Turnaround GuidanceReiterated sales guidance and a targeted improvement of at least 50% in operating losses provide a defined framework for the ongoing turnaround. If execution continues, improving scale, merchandise productivity, and cost discipline could move the company toward more sustainable earnings.
Bears Say
Indirect Channel WeaknessThe steep Indirect decline remains a material weakness in the channel mix and shows that wholesale and marketplace relationships have not yet recovered. Rebuilding strategic accounts, optimizing the portfolio, and reducing liquidation may take time and constrain total revenue growth.
Unresolved ProfitabilityThe business has not yet re-established consistent earnings power, even though losses have narrowed and revenue has rebounded. Persistent operating and net losses limit financial quality, make cash-flow sustainability harder to assess, and leave the recovery dependent on further execution.
Elevated Operating ExpensesHigher SG&A consumes more of each revenue dollar and could limit the conversion of sales gains into durable operating profit. Variable compensation and difficult comparisons contributed to the increase, leaving margin expansion dependent on expense control as investments continue.

ELI Earnings Call
Q2 2026

Earnings Call Sentiment|Positive
The call was predominantly positive. Management highlighted a second consecutive quarter of overall growth, accelerating Direct performance, positive comparable sales, improved profitability, underlying gross margin expansion, sharply lower inventory, stronger cash generation, no debt and reiterated guidance. The main challenges were the 39% decline in Indirect revenue, fewer stores, higher SG&A, the contribution of tariff refunds to reported gross margin improvement and remaining work to rebuild the Indirect channel.View all DE:ELI earnings summariesTechnical Analysis
