Apple (AAPL) is working to resolve worker complaints at Foxconn’s (HNHPF) Zhengzhou iPhone factory, after police were filmed beating protesting employees last week, The Wall Street Journal’s Selina Cheng and Yang Jie report. Labor groups have criticized Apple for failing to adequately protect the rights of workers at the plant. Apple said in a statement it has staff at the Zhengzhou site and it is working closely with Foxconn to ensure their employees’ concerns are addressed. Foxconn has offered a 10,000 yuan payment, or roughly $1,400, to newly recruited workers who wanted to leave their jobs and return home, according to text messages to them from the company’s human resources department shown to The Wall Street Journal by workers.
