Q2 2026 Earnings Call Summary
Earnings Call Sentiment|Positive
The call was broadly positive. Despite reported and like-for-like net revenue declines, regional weakness, cautious technology clients and a subdued technology services market, management highlighted record operational EBITDA, substantial margin expansion, sharply lower net debt and leverage, improved earnings, a new dividend, maintained full-year EBITDA guidance and growing AI-driven business opportunities. The positive financial and strategic developments significantly outweighed the stated challenges.Company Guidance
Strong Operational EBITDA Growth and Margin Expansion

The operational EBITDA margin was 12.3%, up 600 basis points reported and 710 basis points like-for-like.
Improved Earnings and Inaugural Interim Dividend
Adjusted operating profit was GBP 35.2 million. Adjusted basic earnings per share increased to GBP 0.027 from GBP 0.002 in the first half of 2025. The board approved an inaugural interim dividend of GBP 0.0135 per share, representing 50% of adjusted basic earnings per share.
Lower Net Debt and Reduced Leverage
Net debt fell to GBP 66.3 million from GBP 145.9 million at June 30, 2025, with leverage at 0.7x pro forma 12-month operational EBITDA versus 2x a year earlier. This was below the company's target of 1x and its key covenant of 4.5x.
Term Loan B Repurchases Completed Against Target
The company met its targeted EUR 125 million reduction of Term Loan B, including a further EUR 40.1 million repurchase subject to settlement. The outstanding Term Loan B balance was reduced to EUR 249.7 million, or just under EUR 250 million.
Disciplined Cost Management Improved Personnel Efficiency
Personnel and operating expenses were reduced by 12.6% on a reported basis. The personnel cost-to-net-revenue ratio improved to 72.2% from 79.2% in the first half of 2025, reflecting the annualized impact of cost actions taken in the second half of 2025 and continued cost management.
Marketing Services EBITDA Improvement
Marketing services generated GBP 44.1 million of like-for-like operational EBITDA, up 72.3% from the first half of 2025. Its EBITDA margin increased to 15.6%, up 690 basis points, reflecting headcount actions and continued cost discipline.

The company generated GBP 10.4 million in free cash flow. Financing costs reduced meaningfully as net debt declined, while the average effective interest rate improved to approximately 5.7% from 6.1%. Improved cash management increased interest income to GBP 1.9 million.
Lowered Full-Year Net Debt Range and Controlled Leverage Target
The 2026 year-end net debt range was lowered from GBP 60 million-GBP 90 million to GBP 50 million-GBP 80 million. The company aims to maintain leverage under 1x operational EBITDA.
Full-Year EBITDA and EPS Outlook Maintained or Improved

Strong Client Relationships and Large Accounts
The company reported eight 'whopper' clients generating GBP 20 million or more in revenue. Approximately 42% of revenue comes from technology, and the company said its strong client relationships help attract and retain talent. Client spends were described as slightly down but essentially stabilizing versus the previous year across the top 10, 20, and 50 client cohorts.
New Business Wins Across Major Brands
New business wins were announced from LVMH, Mercado Libre, Capital One, Revlon, Square, Seek, Watts, and Air India.
AI Investment and Monks.Flow Platform Development
The company is continuing to invest in AI capabilities, with capital expenditure of GBP 2.7 million in the period. Monks.Flow began as an internal project 2.5 years ago and was described as an enterprise-grade, safe, secure, scalable and auditable agentic marketing platform. The company launches updates every two weeks and is developing intelligence, creation and orchestration capabilities.
AI Platform Ranked Most Relevant Agency Offering
In an AdForum assessment conducted in May, Monks was scored as the number one most relevant agency, meaningfully ahead of its competitive set. Management said this was already playing out in parts of the pipeline.
Faster AI-Enabled Content and Marketing Workflows
Monks.Flow uses client knowledge bases, audience agents, focus groups, social and news data feeds, opportunity identification, automated briefs and content generation. Management stated that the workflow from opportunity spotting through strategy, creative and an asset can be completed in anywhere between 15 minutes and an hour, compared with processes that historically took weeks or months.
Opportunities for Scaled AI Adoption
Management said adoption from existing clients is ramping up as clients in automotive, financial services and FMCG move from pilots to fully scaled adoption of proprietary AI solutions. The company sees significant opportunities for new business driven by its AI tools and capabilities.
Dividend Policy and Shareholder Returns Framework
The company established capital allocation priorities focused on dividends, targeted debt repurchases and share buybacks. The board implemented a 50% dividend payout policy from adjusted basic earnings per share over the medium term, subject to financial targets being met, and intends to recommend a final 2026 dividend in line with that policy.
Digital Marketing and Platform Market Growth
Digital marketing spend continues to increase at significant rates, with digital spend representing around 70% of total advertising spend and growing at high single-digit rates. The top platforms' revenues continue to grow in the high teens, significantly outpacing overall market growth.
