Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Record Backlog Supports Multi-year Revenue VisibilityThe record backlog provides substantial forward revenue visibility and supports production planning, workforce expansion and capacity investment. Its multi-year delivery profile should reduce dependence on short-term order volatility.
Strong Growth With Improving MarginsSustained revenue expansion alongside higher EBIT margins indicates improving operating leverage and execution. If maintained, this combination can strengthen earnings growth and help fund Saab’s ongoing investments in technology and capacity.
Technology Investment And Capacity Expansion Strengthen CompetitivenessHeavy R&D spending and planned production increases build long-term capabilities across advanced defense platforms. These investments can improve Saab’s ability to win complex programs, support customers and scale deliveries as demand rises.
Bears Say
Cash Conversion Remains Below The Medium-term TargetUneven cash conversion means reported earnings are not yet translating consistently into available cash. Working-capital demands, reinvestment and contract timing could constrain financial flexibility if the gap versus the target persists.
Supply-chain Constraints Threaten Growth ExecutionPersistent component shortages and inflation can delay deliveries, raise program costs and limit Saab’s ability to convert its backlog into profitable revenue. Supplier diversification and inventory actions may reduce, but not eliminate, this execution risk.
T-7 Program Under-absorption Weighs On AeronauticsThe T-7 program remains a structural drag on Aeronautics profitability while production scales. Continued under-absorption could offset gains elsewhere and prolong margin pressure, especially if volume growth or efficiency improvements take longer than expected.
