Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Revenue Acceleration (2025)A material revenue rebound in 2025 demonstrates the bank's ability to recover top-line growth after prior choppy years. Sustainable revenue expansion supports long-term franchise resilience, funds reinvestment in channels and lending, and improves prospects for stable earnings generation over the next 2–6 months and beyond.
Earnings Stability (2020–2025)Relatively stable net income across 2020–2025 indicates underlying earnings resilience despite cyclical pressures. Consistent profitability reduces downside risk to capital and dividend capacity, supporting medium-term cash distributions and lending capacity compared with peers with more volatile profits.
Return To Positive Operating/free Cash FlowRecovering to positive operating and free cash flow in 2025 signals improved cash conversion after prior large negative prints. Durable cash generation is critical for servicing liabilities, funding loan growth and maintaining capital buffers, strengthening the bank's financial flexibility over coming quarters.
Bears Say
Volatile Leverage TrajectoryLarge swings in reported leverage create uncertainty about the bank's funding and risk profile. Inconsistent debt levels complicate capital planning and weaken investor confidence in balance-sheet management, increasing the chance of constrained lending capacity or costly recapitalization needs over the medium term.
Highly Inconsistent Cash GenerationWide volatility in operating and free cash flow highlights weak cash conversion and potential working-capital or balance-sheet driven swings. This unpredictability can strain liquidity management, make capital distributions harder to sustain, and raise funding cost or contingency reserve requirements.
Margin Compression And Modest ROESignificant margin compression and low mid-single-digit ROE constrain the bank's ability to generate excess returns on capital. Persistently weak profitability limits organic capital growth, reduces buffer against credit shocks, and may force strategic trade-offs between growth, dividends and capitalization over the medium term.
