Q2 2026 Earnings Call Summary

Earnings Call Sentiment|Positive
The call emphasized very strong top-line growth, exceptional Cloud momentum (82% YoY) and robust AI adoption across products, developers, and enterprise customers. Profitability improved materially (operating income +30%) and cash generation remains strong on a trailing-12-month basis. However, the company is investing aggressively in AI infrastructure, resulting in higher CapEx, supply-constrained capacity that requires third-party bridging (creating near-term margin pressure), elevated operating costs, and continued losses in Other Bets. On balance, the strategic investments are translating into accelerating product adoption and outsized Cloud growth, while creating short-term margin and cash-flow headwinds.
Company Guidance
Alphabet updated its full‑year 2026 capital plan, raising CapEx to $195–$205 billion (from $180–$190B) to accelerate capacity delivery and said CapEx will rise significantly in 2027; it expects a slight FX headwind in Q3 versus a 1‑percentage‑point FX tailwind in Q2 and will begin lapping last year’s Search acceleration. Google Cloud backlog grew by more than $50 billion sequentially to $514 billion, and the company expects to recognize just over 50% of that backlog as revenue over the next 24 months; TPU system sales began in Q2 but only a small portion of those revenues will be recognized in 2026 with the vast majority realized in 2027. To address supply constraints Alphabet will expand use of third‑party capacity in Q3 (a near‑term modest margin headwind for Cloud), continue hiring and marketing to support AI and Cloud, and noted free cash flow and margins will remain under pressure while investing (Q2 CapEx $44.9B; Q2 operating cash flow $39.1B; Q2 free cash flow ‑$5.9B; trailing‑12‑month operating cash flow $185.7B and FCF $53.3B). Balance sheet and capital return metrics cited include cash and marketable securities $242.5B (including $87.1B of marketable equity securities), long‑term debt $98.2B, and a $0.22 per‑share quarterly dividend payable in September.
Strong Consolidated Revenue Growth
Consolidated revenues of $119.8 billion, up 24% year-over-year (23% in constant currency), delivering the 12th consecutive quarter of double-digit revenue growth.
Outstanding Cloud Performance
Google Cloud revenue grew 82% year-over-year to $24.8 billion; Cloud operating income more than tripled year-over-year to $8.8 billion and operating margin rose to 35.6% from 20.7% a year earlier. Cloud backlog increased by more than $50 billion sequentially to $514 billion.
Search and YouTube Momentum
Search and other revenues grew 17% to $63.3 billion; YouTube advertising revenues grew 13% to $11.1 billion. Google Services revenues were $95 billion, up 15% year-over-year.
AI and Gemini Adoption
Gemini Enterprise adoption is broad (nearly 90% of the Fortune 100). Model APIs are processing ~22 billion tokens per day (up from ~16 billion a quarter ago, ~+38% QoQ). More than 9 million developers build monthly on Google models and the Gemini app has ~950 million MAUs with daily active users tripling year-over-year.
Rapid Growth in Developer & Agent Engagement
Antigravity (agent development platform) reached ~2.4 million weekly active users; agent development kit hit nearly 70 million total downloads; nearly 500 Cloud customers processed over 1 trillion tokens each in the last year and >2,000 enterprises consumed over 100 billion tokens in the past 12 months.
Improved Profitability and Cash Generation
Operating income rose 30% to $40.8 billion with an operating margin of 34%. Strong operating cash flow of $39.1 billion for the quarter and $185.7 billion for trailing 12 months. Cash and marketable securities totaled $242.5 billion.
Product & Ecosystem Innovations
New model releases (Gemini 3.6 Flash, 3.5 Flashlight, Gemini 3.5 Cyber) and features (Omni for video creation, Ask YouTube, AI mode and unified search experience) drove product usage — Omni drove a 40% increase in daily video creators on Gemini since May; GM4 downloads exceeded 300 million since April; Gemini family downloads exceed 900 million.
Commercial & Partnership Wins
Accelerating enterprise acquisition velocity (more than doubled year-over-year), strong partner traction (Google Cloud Marketplace transactions grew >7x YoY), and notable customer deployments across industries (PepsiCo, Intel, HSBC, Macy's, etc.).
