Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Recurring Product Support RevenueA CAD 6.2B installed base and double-digit product support growth provide durable, recurring aftermarket revenue that is less cyclical than new equipment sales. This supports steady parts/service margins, higher lifetime customer value, and predictable revenue conversion over multiple quarters.
Strong Backlog & Order MomentumA record CAD 3.8B backlog and sharply higher deliveries give revenue visibility and a pipeline of follow-on product support and rental opportunities. This multi-period demand cushioning helps stabilize utilization of technicians, parts sales, and capital deployment planning.
Improving Capital Efficiency & ReturnsHigher invested-capital turns and a ~19% adjusted ROIC show effective capital allocation, while SG&A efficiency gains indicate operating leverage. These structural improvements support sustainable returns and the ability to reinvest in technician capacity and service scale without proportionally higher SG&A.
Bears Say
Volatile Cash Generation & Weak Cash ConversionMeaningful swings in operating cash flow and a low FCF-to-profit ratio reduce confidence in sustainable cash generation. Persistent working-capital demands and reinvestment needs can constrain free cash flow, limiting flexibility for dividends, buybacks, or bolt-on investments over the medium term.
Margin Compression From Mix & Ramp CostsMaterial margin erosion driven by lower-margin work mix and productivity drag from rapid technician hiring suggests operating leverage has not fully converted to margin expansion. If mix and ramp costs persist, margin sustainability and incremental cash flows from revenue growth will be constrained.
Regional & Timing Execution RisksConcentrated exposure to cyclical mining/construction markets, regional slowdowns, and uncertain timing for large data-center projects creates uneven demand and investment timing. These factors increase execution risk, working-capital needs, and make forecasting multi-region earnings and cash conversion harder.
