Q2 2027 Earnings Call Summary

Q2 2027
Earnings Call Date:Oct 29, 2026|% Change Since:-1.64%|
Earnings Call Sentiment|Neutral

The call had a mixed tone. DXC reported quarterly results above guidance and highlighted substantial progress in AI certifications, agentic deployments, cybersecurity offerings, SaaS adoption and new customer wins. However, these developments were accompanied by declining revenue, profitability and bookings, weaker pipeline conversion, increased competition and reduced full-year revenue, margin, EPS and free cash flow guidance. Management expressed confidence in the long-term AI opportunity but emphasized that improving core-business execution remains necessary.

Company Guidance

For full fiscal year 2027, DXC expects organic revenue to decline 5% to 5.5% year-to-year, CES revenue to decline at a mid-single-digit range, GIS revenue to show a high single-digit revenue decline, and Insurance revenue growth to increase from low single-digit to mid-single-digit revenue growth; adjusted EBIT margin is expected to be between 5.75% and 6.25%, non-GAAP diluted EPS between $2.25 to $2.50, and free cash flow approximately $600 million. For the third quarter of fiscal 2027, total organic revenue is expected to decline approximately 6% year-to-year, CES to decline mid-single digits, GIS to decline at a high single-digit rate, insurance to grow at a similar rate as the first quarter, adjusted EBIT margin to be approximately 6%, and non-GAAP diluted EPS to be approximately $0.55.

  • Quarterly Results Exceeded GuidanceSecond-quarter revenue, adjusted EBIT and non-GAAP diluted EPS were above guidance. Total revenue was $3 billion, above the high end of the guidance range.
  • Insurance Business Delivered Strong Reported GrowthInsurance revenue grew 23% year-to-year, well above expectations, driven by a one-time contract modification. Excluding the modification, underlying insurance revenue was consistent quarter-to-quarter, with recurring software revenue growth offset by the wind-down of a business process services contract.
  • Insurance SaaS Momentum and Smart Apps TractionDXC's SaaS business grew at a strong double-digit rate. Assure customer adoption exceeded 275 enterprise insurance accounts, DXC sold its first Smart Apps during the quarter, and the Smart Apps pipeline grew more than 20% from the prior quarter.
  • Large GrowthX Banking WinGrowthX secured its first large win with a leading global banking institution to modernize a mission-critical core banking system and accelerate its transition to the cloud. The modernization-as-a-service offering combines DXC's AI-powered modernization platform, industrialized delivery factory and Anthropic's Claude model.
  • OASIS Utilization and Customer Adoption IncreasedOASIS utilization surged 6x from the prior quarter as DXC expanded agent capabilities, increased production workflows and launched DXC Workplace Services. Demand remained strong among existing and new customers, patch management emerged as a leading use case, and DXC was running two pilots with new customers with incremental opportunities in the pipeline.
  • Expansion of AI Engineering TalentMore than 5,700 colleagues globally earned AI certifications since June. More than 500 engineers participated in a multi-platform forward-deployed-engineer bootcamp in India, and DXC is building expertise across Amazon, Microsoft Copilot, 7AI, Anthropic and ElevenLabs.
  • AI Commercialization and Product Development ProgressManagement said DXC has moved from strategy to products, products to deployments and increasingly from deployments to commercial adoption. DXC was approved to productize Claude Mythos into DXC Frontier Code Assurance, a managed service combining frontier AI reasoning with cybersecurity expertise to identify, validate, prioritize and help remediate vulnerabilities.
  • Cybersecurity Offering Positioned for Current DemandManagement described Frontier Code Assurance as a hot offering and said DXC is selling it in the market. The service can scan applications, document vulnerabilities, create a patching framework and help customer teams remediate issues.
  • Trust, Safety and AI Governance Capabilities ExpandedDXC is developing architectures around safe, responsible and resilient AI operations, with a focus on agent assurance, agent engineering and harness engineering. DXC also partnered with LangChain and is licensing LangChain to support the development, evaluation and observability of OASIS agents.
  • Strengthened Leadership and Sales Execution FocusPaul Taylor joined as President with a focus on operational accountability, removing friction in global operations and improving sales execution. Management said DXC is simplifying customer interactions through a single point of accountability.
  • CES Growth Areas and Engineering Services MomentumWithin CES, Enterprise Application Services and GrowthX continued to grow. Engineering services had an expanding pipeline and year-to-year bookings growth.
  • Free Cash Flow and Capital AllocationDXC generated $91 million of quarterly free cash flow, or $213 million excluding the $122 million IRS deposit related to its tax litigation case. First-half free cash flow was $405 million. DXC retired $400 million of U.S. dollar bonds that matured in September 2026 and repurchased $60 million of shares.
  • Backlog Erosion Remained Consistent with Historical LevelsManagement said backlog erosion statistics were consistent with historical levels and had been moderating at a good level.
  • Insurance Business Strategic OptionalityManagement confirmed that it is in ongoing discussions regarding a possible sale of the insurance business and said the Board and management are exploring multiple avenues to create shareholder value, including improving the core, scaling agentic and AI-based solutions and evaluating strategic actions across the portfolio.
