Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Cash GenerationThe company converted earnings into substantive free cash flow in 2026, producing ~£28.6m of FCF and a +141.7% FCF increase. Durable cash generation supports reinvestment, working capital flexibility and debt servicing, improving resilience across industrial project cycles.
Balance Sheet ResilienceLeverage is moderate with ~£29.5m debt against ~£49.1m equity and ~£115.1m assets, giving a capital base to absorb cyclical weakness. This structural balance-sheet position preserves financial optionality for capex or targeted M&A without immediate refinancing pressure.
Return To ProfitabilityAfter multi-year losses the business posted positive EBIT and a small net profit in 2026, with gross profit near £61.8m. Sustained operating profitability suggests improved cost structure and pricing discipline, which can translate into durable margin recovery if revenue stabilises.
Bears Say
Revenue VolatilityTop-line instability is a structural concern: after a rebound the company saw a -9.4% revenue drop in 2026 and multi-year negative growth. Persistent revenue volatility undermines forecasting, weakens operating leverage and can erode returns even with good cost control.
Prior Multi-year LossesLarge losses in 2023–2024 materially depleted retained earnings and demonstrate prior operational stress. Even with a recent profit, legacy losses constrain accumulated capital, raise break-even thresholds and increase sensitivity to future demand shocks.
Cash-flow InconsistencyHistorical swings in free cash flow—negative in 2021–2022 and slightly negative in 2024—signal execution and working-capital sensitivity. While 2026 was strong, such inconsistency complicates capital planning and raises the risk that cash generation could reverse under adverse project timing.
