Q3 2026 Earnings Call Summary

Q3 2026
Earnings Call Date:Oct 29, 2026|
% Change Since:
|
Earnings Call Sentiment|Positive
The call was strongly positive, with record third-quarter revenue, improving profitability, raised 2026 guidance, robust growth across the core products, continued pipeline advancement, and a merger nearing completion. The main negatives were the continued nine-month GAAP net loss, higher year-to-date operating expenses, uncertainty around the SPN-817 readout timing, and the lack of combined 2027 guidance.
Company Guidance
For full year 2026 on a stand-alone basis, Supernus now expects total revenues to range from $875 million to $900 million, up from the previous guidance of $860 million to $890 million, and non-GAAP operating earnings to range from $160 million to $180 million, up from $150 million to $180 million; assuming the merger with Indivior closes on November 2, this financial guidance will no longer apply. The company remains confident in capturing the $125 million of expected annual cost synergies, expects to provide combined full year 2027 guidance in February during the release of fourth quarter and full year 2026 results, expects approval of a second source of supply for ONAPGO by midyear 2027, expects the SPN-443 Phase I study to start by the end of 2026, and said the SPN-817 readout looks like it is going to be in 2028, with 2028 described as a good guess.
Growth Products Delivered Strong Combined Growth
Combined revenues from Qelbree, ZURZUVAE, ONAPGO, and GOCOVRI increased 43% in the third quarter of 2026 compared with the same period last year.
Record Quarterly Revenue and Return to GAAP Profitability
Third-quarter total revenue reached a record $226.8 million, up 18% year over year, including $178.6 million of net product sales, $41.7 million of ZURZUVAE collaboration revenue, and $6.5 million of royalties, licensing, and other revenue. GAAP operating earnings were $21.2 million versus a $60.2 million operating loss in the prior-year quarter, while GAAP net earnings were $20.9 million, or $0.35 per diluted share, versus a $45.1 million loss, or $0.80 per diluted share.
Improved Third-Quarter Adjusted Operating Earnings
Third-quarter adjusted operating earnings increased to $55.2 million from $41.9 million in the same quarter of the prior year.
Qelbree Prescription and Sales Growth
Qelbree prescriptions increased 18% year over year in the third quarter, outpacing 10% growth in the ADHD market, while net sales rose 12% to $91 million. For the nine months ended September 30, prescriptions increased 18%, net sales increased 15%, and nine-month net sales reached an all-time high of $258 million.
Qelbree Prescriber and Patient Segment Momentum
Qelbree's third-quarter prescription growth included 25% growth in adults and 16% growth in pediatric patients. The quarterly number of prescribers reached an approximate high of 46,000, and new-to-brand prescriptions increased 23% in the third quarter. Management said adult growth continued to outperform pediatric growth during the back-to-school season.
ONAPGO Sales and Demand Increased
ONAPGO generated $17.1 million of net sales in the third quarter, up 27% from the second quarter of 2026. Prescriptions increased 17% sequentially, and more than 400 enrollment forms were submitted during the quarter.
ONAPGO Received Orphan Drug Exclusivity
The FDA recognized seven years of orphan drug exclusivity for ONAPGO for the treatment of motor fluctuations in adults with advanced Parkinson's disease.
ONAPGO Supply and Processing Improvements
Management said the backlog of enrollment forms was cleared, supply issues were behind the company, processing had returned to normal timing, and conversion from enrollment forms to shipments had improved. Management also said prescriptions, patients on therapy, and new writers all grew sequentially.
ONAPGO Second Source of Supply Planned
Supernus submitted a supplemental new drug application for a second source of ONAPGO supply, with approval expected by midyear 2027.
ZURZUVAE Delivered Strong Demand Growth
Supernus reported $42 million of ZURZUVAE collaboration revenue in the third quarter and $105 million for the nine months year to date. U.S. ZURZUVAE sales reported by Biogen increased approximately 53% year over year, written prescriptions increased 43%, and prescribers increased 42%.
ZURZUVAE Patient and Repeat-Prescriber Expansion
Since launch, 87% of ZURZUVAE prescriptions have come from repeat prescribers and more than 43,000 patients have been treated. Management also reported encouraging early metrics from the direct-to-consumer campaign and said the brand had all-time-high metrics across prescribers and patients.
GOCOVRI Reached Record Quarterly Sales
GOCOVRI net sales and prescriptions each increased 4% year over year in the third quarter, with net sales reaching an all-time high of $43 million.
Pipeline Programs Continued Advancing
The SPN-820 and SPN-817 Phase IIb studies continued enrolling subjects with major depressive disorder and focal seizures, respectively. The SPN-443 program is expected to begin Phase I single ascending and multiple ascending dose studies in healthy adults by the end of 2026.
Indivior Merger Approved and Nearing Closing
Supernus and Indivior shareholders approved the merger on October 15, and the companies expect the transaction to close on November 2, 2026.
Combined Company Expected to Have Broad Portfolio and Synergy Potential
Management said the combined company will have 11 differentiated medicines across psychiatry, neurology, and addiction, with key growth products expected to continue growing well into the 2030s. Supernus remains confident in capturing $125 million of expected annual cost synergies and said it had achieved its $200 million Sage transaction synergy target, possibly slightly exceeding it.
Financial Capacity and Cash Position Increased
Cash, cash equivalents, and marketable securities totaled approximately $359 million as of September 30, 2026, compared with $309 million as of December 31, 2025. Management said the combined company will have profitability, cash-flow generation, and financial capacity to invest in the existing portfolio, advance the pipeline, and pursue future business development.
Full-Year 2026 Stand-Alone Guidance Raised
Supernus raised full-year 2026 stand-alone total revenue guidance to $875 million-$900 million from $860 million-$890 million. Full-year 2026 non-GAAP operating earnings guidance was raised to $160 million-$180 million from $150 million-$180 million.
Future Business Development Remains an Active Priority
Management said it will continue searching for potential partnerships and transactions while focusing on integrating Supernus and Indivior during the first six months after the merger. The business development group can continue searching for opportunities during the integration period.
