Q3 2026 Earnings Call Summary

Q3 2026
Earnings Call Date:Oct 22, 2026|
% Change Since:
|
Earnings Call Sentiment|Neutral
The call had a mixed but cautiously constructive tone. Dometic returned to organic growth, reported stronger order intake and backlog, gained market share, and made progress with restructuring, innovation, and sustainability. However, profitability and adjusted EPS declined, free cash flow was negative, leverage increased, raw-material inflation remained a headwind, key end markets were weak, and the company recorded a close to SEK 4.2 billion impairment. The positive operating trends and strategic progress were broadly balanced by the financial and market challenges.
Company Guidance
Dometic expects the new restructuring program, primarily addressing Land Vehicles Americas, to generate SEK 215 additional million in savings by the end of 2028, with a restructuring cost of SEK 425 million, estimated cash impact of SEK 140 million, and total savings of SEK 1,115 million once the 3 programs are completed; savings will come “stepwise” throughout ’27, partly even into early ’28. Annual savings from programs implemented until now are expected at SEK 900 million, with SEK 600 million currently running and another SEK 110 million added in Q3. The company expects product development investment to remain at 3% of sales, innovation index to increase from 23% toward a target of 25%, CapEx to be between 2.5 and 3, working capital to move toward a target of 20%, and leverage toward its long-term target to 2.5. Per Carlsson said an underlying tax rate of some 34% can be assumed, inventories should see a decline year-over-year after the Mobile Cooling buildup, and Juan Vargues said raw-material prices should be in balance “maximum in another 60 days” if prices stay at these levels.
Return to Organic Growth and Stronger Backlog
Sales revenue was SEK 5.1 billion in the quarter, with organic growth of 3%. Three segments showed positive development, order intake remained good in Q3, and the company entered Q4 with a stronger backlog than both the prior year and the beginning of Q3.
Year-to-Date Organic Growth Turned Positive
Year-to-date organic growth reached 1%, marking a return to positive growth for the full year to date.
Broad-Based Segment Growth and Market Share Gains
Ground Vehicles grew 2%, including 9% growth in EMEA, 1% growth in APAC, and an 8% decline in the Americas. Marine grew 4%, while Mobile Cooling grew 9%. Management stated that Dometic is taking market share on a broad basis, including while the U.S. RV market was down 14% year-to-date and European registrations declined 16% in Q3.
Service & Aftermarket and OEM Momentum
Service & Aftermarket delivered strong growth across several regions, supported by product development, branding initiatives, and new channels. OEM organic growth was 4%, primarily driven by commercial vehicles, despite weakness in the RV industry.
Marine Growth and Margin Resilience
Marine organic growth was 4%, with strong Service & Aftermarket growth and positive European demand, particularly in the yacht, superyacht, and megayacht markets. The Marine EBITA margin was 20.4%, with pricing actions helping mitigate tariffs, raw-material inflation, and a slightly negative FX effect.
Mobile Cooling Growth and Sell-Through
Mobile Cooling grew 9%, driven primarily by North America, where management reported very strong sell-through that was higher than expected.
Gross Margin Maintained Despite Input-Cost Pressure
Gross margin was 29.3% versus 29.5% a year earlier. Management attributed the largely stable margin to implemented price increases and mitigation actions despite higher resin, aluminum, and steel costs and a negative product mix from Mobile Cooling growth.
Restructuring Savings Progress
The company reported SEK 600 million in savings from restructuring programs, including SEK 110 million added in Q3. Previously announced programs are expected to generate SEK 900 million in annual savings, and the newly launched program is expected to add SEK 215 million by the end of 2028, bringing total targeted savings to SEK 1,115 million.
Capacity and Footprint Optimization Underway
Dometic has shut down one manufacturing unit and reduced six distribution centers. Three additional manufacturing units were being shut down, with the changes expected to generate further savings in coming quarters.
Continued Investment in Innovation and Product Development
The company is maintaining product-development investment at approximately 3% of sales and continuing to invest in innovation, sales, and marketing. Its innovation index was 23%, compared with a target of 25%, and the company launched new air-conditioning equipment, air-fryer kitchen equipment, Front Runner roof racks, and a new generation of solar panels during the quarter.
Sustainability Progress
Injuries were below target, the share of female managers was above target, renewable-energy use was above the target for the year, and assessments of direct-material suppliers were also above target.
Debt Reduction and Lower Interest Expense
Dometic repaid SEK 750 million of debt during the quarter. Financial expenses were slightly lower, primarily because interest expenses declined as debt came down, and net debt was lower than a year earlier.
Operating Cash Flow and Receivables Program
Operating cash flow was SEK 563 million for the quarter. The receivables program had approximately SEK 600 million outstanding at the end of September, compared with SEK 950 million at the end of June, and the company is evaluating the addition of more customers to the program.
CapEx Profile Focused on IT and Product Development
Management stated that CapEx has shifted away from machinery and manufacturing capacity toward IT modernization and product development. The expected ongoing CapEx level was described as between 2.5% and 3% of sales.
Strategic Focus on Growth and Financial Improvement
Management plans to continue pursuing growth in Service & Aftermarket and lower-ticket discretionary categories, protect investments in future growth, improve earnings quality, focus on cash generation, and reduce leverage toward its long-term target of 2.5x.
