Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Resilient Operating ProfitabilityA high EBITDA margin indicates Cargojet retains meaningful operating profitability despite cost pressures. This provides capacity to fund fleet operations, absorb temporary volatility and support competitiveness across its scheduled and charter networks.
Underlying Revenue GrowthGrowth excluding fuel effects demonstrates genuine demand expansion rather than only pass-through inflation. Strong charter performance and international flying can improve fleet utilization and diversify revenue beyond the domestic overnight network.
Improving Cash Flow And DeleveragingThe substantial free-cash-flow recovery strengthens internal funding for aircraft and network investments while supporting debt reduction. Progress toward leverage below 2.5x would improve financial flexibility and reduce balance-sheet risk over time.
Bears Say
Elevated Leverage And Lower ReturnsMeaningful leverage increases sensitivity to weaker cargo volumes, interest costs and aircraft spending. Lower ROE also suggests the enlarged capital base is producing less shareholder return, limiting balance-sheet flexibility for future growth.
Margin Compression And Weak FCF ConversionThe decline in net margin reduces earnings resilience, while volatile and modest free-cash-flow conversion makes funding less predictable. Continued aircraft investment or operating pressure could therefore constrain debt reduction and shareholder returns.
Labour Costs And ACMI WeaknessThe multi-year pilot agreement raises the structural cost base, with pass-through timing creating interim margin pressure. Simultaneous ACMI revenue weakness suggests some fleet capacity is exposed to route transitions and uneven demand.

CJ8A Earnings Call
Q2 2026
0:00 / 0:00
Earnings Call Sentiment|Positive
The call conveyed a predominantly positive operational and financial result: solid revenue and adjusted EBITDA growth, a meaningful free-cash-flow turnaround, improved fleet utilization through the One Fleet strategy, and successful international expansion (Liège–Tel Aviv). These positives are tempered by clear near-term headwinds — higher fuel-driven margin noise, a materially more expensive pilot agreement (with partial productivity offsets), a YoY decline in the ACMI segment, and ongoing macro/geopolitical uncertainty. Management outlined mitigation paths (customer pass-throughs, productivity gains, disciplined CapEx and ROIC focus) that, if realized, support a constructive outlook.View all DE:CJ8A earnings summariesCJ8A Stock 12 Month Forecast
