Clariant AG operates as a global leader in specialty chemicals, organized into three primary business units: Care Chemicals, Catalysis, and Natural Resources. The company develops and supplies a broad spectrum of chemical products and solutions. This includes fire retardants, performance-enhancing additives, and advanced surface treatments for applications spanning plastics, coatings, inks, and consumer goods. It also provides essential catalysts for petrochemical and fuel refining, synthesis gas, general chemical processes, and emissions control, along with specialized zeolite and custom catalyst solutions. Clariant further manufactures specialized bentonite-based products, serving diverse sectors such as oil purification, foundries, animal feed, civil construction, wastewater treatment, and various industrial uses including paper, detergents, and PVC stabilization. Its extensive portfolio also features industrial and consumer specialty chemicals and tailored application solutions across numerous markets. These encompass automotive fluids (like brake fluids and coolants), aircraft de-icing, construction chemicals, agrochemicals, food ingredients, gas processing, heat transfer, home and industrial cleaning, lubricant additives, specialized solvents, paints and coatings, healthcare, and personal care ingredients. Additionally, the company offers sophisticated oilfield production chemicals for enhanced oil recovery, offshore and unconventional drilling, paraffin control, and well services, complemented by its intelligent chemical management system, Veritrax. Clariant also provides comprehensive chemical solutions for the mining industry, additives for refinery services, and develops biofuels and their derivatives, exemplified by sunliquid, which transforms agricultural residues into cellulosic ethanol. Its product range extends to organic, inorganic, and anti-corrosive pigments, as well as pigment preparations, dyes, and specialty materials vital for coatings, plastics, conventional and digital printing, textiles, and personal care applications. Founded in 1886, Clariant AG is headquartered in Muttenz, Switzerland.
