Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Positive Cash Generation And Manageable LeveragePositive operating and free cash flow across three fiscal years supports ongoing operations and gives RFG greater flexibility to fund initiatives. Manageable leverage and relatively stable equity provide additional resilience, although cash conversion remains variable and should be monitored.
Transformation Savings And Margin Recovery PotentialCompleted cost-out actions and lower expected input-cost pressure create a credible path toward improved gross margins and cash flow in FY27. If delivered, the targeted savings should strengthen unit economics, support franchise partners, and improve earnings quality beyond the current recovery.
QSR Brand Growth And Customer MomentumThe QSR segment is showing measurable resilience despite broader network pressure, with growth in sales, same-store performance, and customers. This indicates that key brands such as Crust retain market relevance and can support durable franchise expansion if operating execution continues.
Bears Say
Declining Revenue And Network SalesFalling group revenue and domestic network sales indicate weakening system-wide demand and reduce the royalty and supply-related income base. Continued outlet closures and softer same-store sales could limit RFG’s ability to grow earnings until the network stabilises and customer demand improves.
Volatile Profitability And Margin PressureThe sharp decline in gross profit and history of losses show that RFG’s earnings recovery is not yet firmly established. Low EBIT relative to sales leaves limited room for further cost or demand shocks, while inconsistent profitability can constrain reinvestment and balance-sheet de-risking.
Cafe, Coffee And Bakery Segment ContractionWeakness in the cafe, coffee and bakery portfolio affects a substantial operating segment and reflects pressure on both customer traffic and the outlet base. Persistent declines could reduce franchisee attractiveness, royalty income, and supply volumes, making recovery dependent on successful brand initiatives.
