Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Backlog VisibilityThe SEK 364 billion backlog gives Saab substantial revenue visibility beyond individual delivery cycles and supports planning for production, hiring, and investment. Combined with record order intake, it indicates durable customer demand and a strong foundation for continued growth over the coming quarters.
Revenue And Margin GrowthSaab has more than doubled revenue from 2021 to the TTM period while expanding net profitability, demonstrating operating scale and improving earnings quality. The sustained growth profile supports reinvestment and indicates that increased defense demand is translating into stronger financial performance.
Balance Sheet And Cash StrengthNet liquidity, strong cash conversion, and negative net debt relative to EBITDA provide Saab with financial flexibility to fund capacity expansion and large defense programs. This strengthens resilience during investment peaks and supports continued execution without relying heavily on additional leverage.
Bears Say
T-7 Margin DragThe T-7 program remains below the production scale needed to support the factory and is imposing recurring costs on Aeronautics profitability. Until volumes and execution improve, this program can dilute segment margins and absorb management attention, limiting the benefit of broader revenue growth.
Supply-chain ConstraintsInput-cost inflation and limited ability to qualify alternative suppliers create execution and margin risks for complex defense programs. Military qualification is time-consuming, so shortages or higher component prices may persist longer than in commercial industries and make delivery economics harder to manage.
Uneven Cash ConversionAlthough recent cash generation improved materially, uneven conversion means reported earnings do not consistently translate into free cash flow. This variability can complicate funding decisions and reflects swings in investment or working-capital needs, particularly while Saab expands production capacity.
