Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Fiber Network Scale & ExpansionA large, rapidly expanding FTTP footprint increases the addressable market and creates durable recurring revenue from sticky broadband subscriptions. Scale improves unit economics, lowers incremental build costs per passing, and supports sustained margin expansion as penetration rises across matured cohorts.
Improving EBITDA Margins And Operating LeverageRising EBITDA and widening margins reflect the structural mix shift toward higher‑margin fiber services and strong operating leverage (high incremental EBITDA conversion). Durable margin expansion supports future cash generation once capital intensity normalizes and underpins long‑term profitability.
Positive Operating Cash FlowConsistent positive operating cash flow shows core operations already generate cash despite accounting losses, reducing dependence on external financing. This cash base improves near‑term liquidity, funds continued network investment, and increases the likelihood of achieving targeted free cash flow when capex intensity declines.
Bears Say
Sharp Revenue Contraction And LossesA material decline in reported revenue and return to net losses indicate structural erosion in legacy lines and demand volatility. Until growth from fiber fully offsets legacy declines, earnings power and profit stability remain impaired, constraining reinvestment returns and strategic flexibility.
High Near‑term Capital Intensity And Negative Free Cash FlowSustained heavy capex to build out fiber keeps free cash flow negative and elevates financing needs. Persistent negative FCF lengthens payback on network investments and increases reliance on debt or grants, making free cash generation and deleveraging contingent on successful penetration and falling capital intensity.
Rising Leverage And Limited Near‑term LiquidityMaterial increase in leverage reduces balance sheet flexibility while large capex needs persist. Limited available liquidity and some undrawn commitments raise refinancing and covenant risk if operational momentum slows, making the company more sensitive to adverse demand or execution setbacks.

SH9 Earnings Call
Q2 2026
0:00 / 0:00
Earnings Call Sentiment|Positive
The call conveyed strong operational momentum driven by fiber expansion: record Glo Fiber net adds, >31% YoY data subscriber growth, 21.4% fiber revenue growth, and improving margins (adjusted EBITDA +12.9%, margin +200 bps). Management reiterated 2026 guidance, outlined a path to positive free cash flow in 2027 and targets for higher EBITDA margins. Offsetting these positives are continued declines in incumbent and RLEC revenues (video and DSL erosion), ARPU pressure from competitive pricing and rural rate adjustments, modestly higher churn in incumbent markets, substantial near-term CapEx and material net debt with limited immediate liquidity availability. Overall, the company appears to be transitioning successfully to a fiber-first, higher-margin model, but still faces near-term headwinds from legacy declines, ARPU pressure and elevated capital requirements.View all DE:SH9 earnings summariesSH9 Stock 12 Month Forecast
