                  Q2 2026
                  0:00 / 0:00
                  Earnings Call Sentiment|Positive
The call presented a fundamentally constructive picture: the group delivered solid headline earnings (+8%), revenue growth (+4%), improved ROE (15%) above cost of equity, strong capital (CET1 12.8%), loan and deposit growth, improving asset quality and continued investment in digital and leadership. However, near-term profitability is materially challenged by rapid interest-rate cuts in key Africa Regions (notably Ghana), which compressed margins (notably a ~47 bp decline in Africa Regions), caused Africa Regions revenue and earnings contraction, and weighed on transaction banking and some CIB activities. Management offered conservative but achievable 2026 guidance and reiterated medium-term targets, emphasizing diversification, revenue-led growth initiatives and further cost discipline. On balance the positives (earnings growth, capital, customer traction, investments and productivity gains) outweigh the current regional and margin headwinds, but execution on revenue diversification and fee growth remains critical to sustain momentum.View all DE:AU61 earnings summaries
