Vale, BHP ordered to pay R$47.6B for dam collapse, O Globo reports

Brazilian federal judge Vinicius Coubucci from the 4th Federal Civil and Agrarian Court of Belo Horizonte ordered Vale (VALE), Samarco and BHP (BHP) to pay 47.6B reais for “collective moral damages” resulting from the collapse of the Mariana dam in 2015, O Globo reported. Vale shares trading in New York are down about 1%.
