Uber Eats is removing thousands of online-only brands over concerns the platform is getting clogged due to restaurants listing themselves multiple times with different names but the same menu, Preetika Rana and Heather Haddon of The Wall Street Journal report. The number of virtual brands on Uber Eats quadrupled from 10,000 in 2021 to 40,000 this year. These virtual brands account for 8% of Uber Eats’ storefronts listed in the U.S. and Canada but also account for less than 2% bookings in the region. Uber Eats plans to remove 5,000 online storefronts. Reference Link
