U.S. Steel (X) said it plans to temporarily idle blast furnace “B” at its Granite City Works in response to the United Auto Workers, or UAW, strike against Detroit’s big three auto manufacturers, General Motors (GM), Ford (F) and Stellantis (STLA), reported Michael Cowden, managing editor for Steel Market Update. Other publicly traded companies in the steel space include AK Steel (AKS), ArcelorMittal (MT), Nucor (NUE), Steel Dynamics (STLD) and TimkenSteel (TMST).
