Shares of Six flags (SIX) and Cedar Fair (FUN) are on the rise following news reports saying that an agreement between the two could be unveiled this week. According to Wall Street Journal’s Lauren Thomas and Will Feuer, Six Flags is nearing a deal to merge with Cedar Fair Entertainment, a move that would combine two of the largest regional-theme-park chains in the U.S. The companies have discussed a combination in the past, including in 2019, and there is no certainty that the latest deliberations will result in an agreement, Reuters’ Greg Roumeliotis and David French also report, citing sources close to the matter. PRICE ACTION: In Wednesday afternoon trading, shares of Six Flags have jumped over 8% to $21.58, while Cedar Fair has gained about 6% to $37.67.
