Macquarie analyst Tim Nollen thinks the Disney (DIS) and Charter (CHTR) situation is “much more than a typical affiliate fight” and says the firm’s “best guess is the next few days of US Open, college and NFL football missing from ESPN will force both sides to compromise.” However, Charter is pushing for more meaningful structural change in TV subscriptions and the firm believes Charter will “set new milestones in talks to advance the future of streaming,” the analyst added. The analyst has a Neutral rating on Disney shares.
