Disney gives tennis players access to tournament coverage amid backout, FT says

Disney (DIS) is providing tennis players at this week’s US Open direct access to tournament coverage through its ESPN channel amid a dispute with Charter Communications (CHTR) that has blacked out programming for 15M subscribers, Sara Germano of The Financial Times reports. The blackout has been going on since Thursday and is over fees to carry the programming. This has caused some of the best tennis players in the world unable to view their opponents’ matches while in New York. Recently, a spokesperson told the Financial Times secure logins to The Walt Disney Company app has been given to some US Open players who have requested access.
