Pro football leagues the XFL and USFL are in advanced talks to merge, three sources familiar with the situation told Axios’ Tim Baysinger, Dan Primack and Sara Fischer. The merger of the USFL, which is owned by Fox Corp., and the XFL, which is owned by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, business partner Dany Garcia, and RedBird Capital Partners, would be structured as a merger of equals and would require regulatory approval, one source said. The leagues hope to combine before the 2024 seasons, the report noted.
