Disney (DIS), Apple (AAPL), Amazon (AMZN), and YouTube (GOOG) are all interested in acquiring rights to stream local NBA games, potentially taking over rights currently held by Diamond Sports Group (SBGI), which operates Bally Sports and is currently in bankruptcy, Bloomberg’s Gerry Smith reports, citing people familiar with the matter. The media and tech giants are open to buying the local rights, but only if they can garner a critical mass of teams, the author notes.
