BOX OFFICE RUNNER-UPS: Disney Animation’s “Strange World” placed number 2 with a five-day opening of $18.6M. Netflix’s (NFLX) “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” also debuted this week, but the streaming giant isn’t reporting grosses. The theatrical run is the first of Netflix’s titles to play in all three of the largest chains in the U.S. Sources have told several publications that they believe Glass Onion has earned $12.7M-$13M, which would place it just behind “Strange World.” Sony (SONY) and Black Label Media’s Korean War drama “Devotion” placed number 4 with a five-day opening of $9M from 3,405 theaters. Rounding out the top five, “The Menu” earned an estimated $7.4M from 3,229 locations for a domestic cume of $18.7M.
