Bayer has been ordered to pay $2.25B in damages by a jury in a Philadelphia court in the legal battle over its Roundup weedkiller, The Wall Street Journal’s Helena Smolak reports. Bayer intends to appeal the decision, which includes $250M in compensatory damages and $2B in punitive damages. “We disagree with the jury’s adverse verdict that conflicts with the overwhelming weight of scientific evidence and worldwide regulatory and scientific assessments, and believe that we have strong arguments on appeal to get this verdict overturned,” a spokesman for Bayer said.
