Apple experiences issues with manufacturing in China, WSJ reports

Growing unrest in China has affected the production of Apple devices in the country and there currently seems to be no easy way to avoid this, Dan Gallagher of The Wall Street Journal reports. Back on November 6, Apple warned China’s COVID-19 restrictions at an assembly plant would result in significantly reduced capacity of its newest iPhone Pro and Pro Max models. This outlook has only worsened as recent lockdowns have sparked protests across China. As a result, analysts say there is an increased risk in demand shifting from iPhone 14 Pro/Pro Max models to iPhone 14/14 Plus models during the Christmas season due to the availability of the iPhone 14/14 Plus. China’s unrest also put into question Apple’s long-term direction beyond near-term iPhone sales, for most of the company’s products are manufactured in China. This reliance on China has also grown more tenuous as tensions have risen between the U.S. and China. Reference Link
