Citi lowered the firm’s price target on American Airlines to $13 from $15.25 and keeps a Neutral rating on the shares. On a long-term basis, it seems hard to believe that oil prices stay high, major economies such as the U.S. and China potentially soften, while interest rate parity-driven dollar strength persists at the same time, the analyst tells investors in a research note. “However, this mismatch appears to be in force today – and could persist into at least early 2024,” writes the firm. Citi believes Delta and United look strongest among the Big Four against this backdrop.
