Amazon (AMZN) is behind three advocacy groups working to thwart Microsoft’s (MSFT) government cloud contracts, Emily Birnbaum of Bloomberg reports, citing a Bloomberg analysis and what an Amazon executive wrote in a public FTC comment. The groups are the Cloud Infrastructure Services Providers in Europe, the Coalition for Fair Software Licensing, and the Alliance for Digital Innovation. These groups are trying to convince policymakers Microsoft has locked customers into Azure, its cloud computing service. Amazon is the biggest funder of two of the groups and is the largest company, by revenue, that funds the last one.
