Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) Puts Weight Behind Microsoft, Shares Surge

Story Highlights

Nvidia and AMD set themselves up to supply chips to Microsoft. Investors go wild.

Chip stock Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) has made a name for itself in the ongoing AI gold rush thanks to its lineup of chips that are more than sufficient to give artificial intelligence some of the necessary infrastructure to run. And now, Nvidia is about to make a big new play in the field, joining up with others to serve as a new supplier to no less than Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) itself. That’s sending shares up, and Nvidia picked up nearly 4% in the closing minutes of Monday’s trading session.

The reports suggest that Nvidia, along with AMD (NASDAQ:AMD), might start selling PC chips starting in 2025 in a bid to compete with Qualcomm (NASDAQ:QCOM). Nvidia has already been working to supply Microsoft with CPUs, the reports note, which will not only run Microsoft operating systems but also handle technology from Arm Holdings (NASDAQ:ARM).

Meanwhile, Microsoft has been stepping up its campaign against Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL), working to build processors for Windows PCs. With Apple seeing its own numbers surge over the last three years, it’s clear there’s a market, and Nvidia and AMD are interested in getting in to help drive Microsoft’s plans.

Nvidia was already pretty busy, but Nvidia may soon have a new GPU line in the RTX 4080 Super. It’s due out not too far from now, and when it arrives, the updated Super version will boast 20 gigabytes of VRAM, which should make it a real powerhouse. Naturally, it will take an official announcement to truly confirm these, but it’s clear that Nvidia is going to have a lot on its plate—and plenty to support its bottom line—going forward.

What is the Stock Price Prediction for Nvidia in 2025?
