Vale S.A. has announced a significant safety milestone with the downgrade of the emergency level of the Sul Superior dam from 3 to 2, attributing the improvement to extensive geological investigations and safety enhancements. The company continues to progress in its Upstream Dam Decharacterization Program, with 47% completed and $1.9 billion invested since 2019, aiming to eliminate all upstream dams in Brazil by 2025. The decharacterization of the Sul Superior dam is set to be completed by 2029, using remote equipment to ensure safety.
