HSBC Holdings plc has recently announced a significant buy-back of its shares, purchasing a total of 2,619,358 ordinary shares on UK venues and 3,673,200 shares on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on April 18, 2024. These transactions are part of a larger buy-back program initiated on February 22, 2024, with the company investing approximately US$1.9 billion to repurchase 243,635,076 shares since the start of the program. Following the cancellation of the repurchased shares, HSBC’s issued share capital will be reduced, impacting the total number of voting rights available to shareholders.
