Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Record Order BookA near-€9bn order book and 33% intake growth provide durable revenue visibility across quarters, reducing near-term top-line volatility. A large, multi-quarter backlog supports predictable equipment and service demand, enabling capacity planning and revenue conversion over the next 2–6 months.
Sustained Margin ImprovementMaterial margin expansion to the 13–14% range indicates better pricing, mix and operational discipline. Higher sustainable margins improve cash conversion and resilience to project swings, supporting reinvestment and service economics over coming quarters if management preserves mix and execution.
Strong Cash Generation & Conservative LeverageRobust free cash flow and low leverage materially increase financial flexibility for capex, capacity expansion and shareholder returns. High FCF relative to earnings and reduced net debt lower refinancing risk and support durable investment in growth initiatives over the next several quarters.
Bears Say
Near-Term Capacity ConstraintsCapacity being largely sold out through 2028 constrains the firm’s ability to convert backlog into near-term revenue, delaying cash realization and potentially increasing delivery lead times. Expansion plans mitigate this but benefits are back‑loaded to 2029, leaving short-term execution risk.
JV One-Time Earnings HeadwindThe announced energy‑storage JV, while strategically logical, creates a material one‑time earnings drag that will reduce near‑term reported operating profit and complicate year‑over‑year comparability. This reduces short‑term operating room for other investments or margin cushions.
Regulatory Fragmentation & Retrofit DelaysDivergent regional rules and IMO delays create structural uncertainty for retrofit demand and project timing. This raises the risk that service and retrofit revenues will be lumpy or delayed, pressuring aftermarket growth and complicating long‑range planning for capacity and parts inventories.
