Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Integrated Waste Infrastructure And Recurring Contracts
Cleanaway combines collection, processing, treatment and disposal assets with multi-year customer contracts. This integrated model can capture margin across several service stages while contracted volumes support asset utilisation, making revenue more durable than purely transactional waste activity.
Broad Revenue And Underlying EBIT Growth
Double-digit growth in both revenue and underlying EBIT indicates that recent expansion has translated into operating earnings, not just higher activity. Continued gains across the group provide a stronger base for investment, debt service and earnings growth over the next several quarters.
Improving Free Cash Flow Generation
The substantial improvement in free cash flow strengthens Cleanaway's ability to fund capital expenditure, support dividends and manage obligations internally. Better cash generation also gives management more flexibility to invest in operational improvements while reducing reliance on additional external funding.
Bears Say
Sustained Margin And Profitability Pressure
The multi-year decline in net and EBITDA margins shows that revenue growth is converting into less profit than earlier in the cycle. If this pressure persists, weaker earnings conversion could constrain reinvestment, reduce returns on capital and limit the benefit of continued top-line expansion.
Rising Leverage And Finance Costs
Higher leverage and materially increased finance costs reduce financial flexibility and absorb more of operating cash flow. Debt funding may support acquisitions and growth, but the upward trajectory raises the importance of successful integration, cash generation and disciplined capital allocation.
Health Services Underperformance And Margin Compression
Health Services weakness reflects customer contract repricing, delayed facility start-ups and the Yatala disruption, while management has acknowledged slower recovery. These issues can weigh on organic growth and segment profitability until operational execution and customer economics improve.

Company Description
Cleanaway Waste Management
Cleanaway Waste Management Limited (CWM) is a leading Australian provider of comprehensive waste management, industrial, and environmental solutions. Its operations are structured into three primary divisions: Solid Waste Services, Industrial & Waste Services, and Liquid Waste & Health Services. Under Solid Waste Services, Cleanaway handles the collection of diverse solid waste streams – such as general refuse, recyclables, and construction & demolition debris – for commercial, industrial, municipal, and residential clients. This segment also encompasses medical and washroom waste management. Furthermore, it manages and owns essential infrastructure, including waste transfer stations, resource recovery and recycling centers, secure product destruction facilities, quarantine treatment sites, and landfills. A key activity here is the sale of recovered materials like paper, cardboard, metals, and plastics. The Liquid Waste & Health Services division specializes in the collection, treatment, processing, and recycling of both liquid and hazardous materials. This includes a range of substances such as industrial waste, grease trap waste, oily waters, and used mineral and cooking oils, supplied in both packaged and bulk formats. Moreover, Cleanaway delivers comprehensive industrial solutions. These services span industrial cleaning, vacuum tanker operations, site remediation, sludge handling, parts cleaning, concrete repair, CCTV inspections, corrosion prevention, and emergency response. The company also undertakes the refining and recycling of used mineral oils, converting them into fuel and base oils. It also generates and markets electricity by harnessing landfill gas. Additional offerings include health and biohazardous waste management, organic and e-waste recycling, industrial construction and cleaning, equipment maintenance, and the supply of spill kits. Its extensive service portfolio caters to a broad spectrum of industries. Established in 2002, the company was initially known as Transpacific Industries Group Ltd. before adopting its current name, Cleanaway Waste Management Limited, in February 2016. Its headquarters are located in Melbourne, Australia.

Cleanaway Waste Management (TSPCF) Earnings & Revenues
TSPCF Company Deck
TSPCF Earnings Call
Earnings Call SentimentPositive
The call presented a predominantly constructive operational and financial story: double-digit revenue and underlying EBIT growth, a substantial free cash flow improvement, margin expansion in core Solid Waste Services, and strong performance from the Contract Resources acquisition. Management acknowledged pockets of underperformance (notably Health Services, parts of Industrial Services and OTS project volumes), one-off/significant items reducing statutory NPAT, and near-term IT and remediation cash costs that temper short-term earnings. Guidance reflects a step-up in underlying EBIT ($500–530m) while recognizing IT/investment costs and legacy cash impacts in FY'27. On balance the positives (strong cash generation, core segment strength, strategic progress and acquisition delivery) outweigh the negatives, though investors should monitor near-term cash and finance cost headwinds and the successful execution of recovery plans.
