Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Revenue GrowthThe 145.3% reported revenue-growth figure and A$12.1m 2026 revenue indicate stronger commercial receipts. If sustained, a larger revenue base can improve operating leverage and support monetisation of the company’s platform and product portfolio.
Lower Financial LeverageThe substantial reduction in debt lowers interest and refinancing exposure, giving Starpharma greater flexibility to fund development and commercialisation. Conservative leverage is a durable balance-sheet advantage while the company works toward profitability.
Improved Cash BurnAlthough cash flow remains negative, the marked improvement in 2026 suggests tighter spending or better operating performance. Continued progress could extend the funding runway and reduce the scale of capital required before the business reaches self-funding.
Bears Say
Persistent Operating LossesOngoing EBIT, EBITDA and net losses show that gross profit has not yet translated into a sustainable operating model. Without meaningful cost leverage or higher-margin commercial income, profitability may remain dependent on future partnering or funding.
Negative Free Cash FlowPersistent negative operating and free cash flow means the company is not self-funding its research and commercial activities. Even with improved 2026 burn, continued outflows could require additional financing and constrain investment in pipeline development.
Eroding Equity BaseThe sharp decline in equity, alongside shrinking total assets, reflects the cumulative effect of losses and cash consumption. It reduces financial resilience and limits flexibility to absorb development setbacks or fund expansion without dilution or other capital support.
