Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Fiber Growth And Mix ShiftRapid fiber revenue growth and a majority-fiber revenue mix indicate a durable transition toward higher-quality connectivity services. This shift can improve customer economics, support stronger network utilization, and gradually reduce dependence on declining legacy offerings.
Improving EBITDA PerformanceDouble-digit adjusted EBITDA growth and expanding margins show operating leverage as the fiber business scales. If sustained, improved profitability can provide greater capacity to fund network investment, absorb competitive pricing, and strengthen future cash generation.
Customer Growth And Low Fiber ChurnStrong subscriber additions combined with low Glo Fiber churn point to healthy product-market fit and customer retention. Durable customer growth increases recurring revenue density on the network and improves the potential returns from the company’s fiber expansion program.
Bears Say
Legacy Revenue DeclineThe sharp TTM revenue contraction and continuing video and DSL losses show that legacy services are shrinking faster than the business is fully replacing them. This creates execution pressure, weakens earnings stability, and can offset gains from the fiber transition over the next several quarters.
Persistent Negative Free Cash FlowHeavy network investment is consuming substantially more cash than the business currently generates internally. Continued negative free cash flow increases reliance on external financing and leaves less flexibility to manage operating setbacks, especially while the company remains in an expansion phase.
Higher Leverage And Limited FlexibilityRising leverage alongside limited available liquidity reduces financial flexibility while profitability and free cash flow remain weak. Although maturities are not immediate, the larger debt burden can constrain capital allocation and make the fiber buildout more sensitive to execution or demand shortfalls.

SHEN Earnings Call
Q2 2026
0:00 / 0:00
Earnings Call Sentiment|Positive
The call conveyed strong operational momentum driven by fiber expansion: record Glo Fiber net adds, >31% YoY data subscriber growth, 21.4% fiber revenue growth, and improving margins (adjusted EBITDA +12.9%, margin +200 bps). Management reiterated 2026 guidance, outlined a path to positive free cash flow in 2027 and targets for higher EBITDA margins. Offsetting these positives are continued declines in incumbent and RLEC revenues (video and DSL erosion), ARPU pressure from competitive pricing and rural rate adjustments, modestly higher churn in incumbent markets, substantial near-term CapEx and material net debt with limited immediate liquidity availability. Overall, the company appears to be transitioning successfully to a fiber-first, higher-margin model, but still faces near-term headwinds from legacy declines, ARPU pressure and elevated capital requirements.View all SHEN earnings summariesSHEN Stock 12 Month Forecast
