Q2 2026 Earnings Call Summary

Q2 2026
Earnings Call Date:Jul 29, 2026|
% Change Since:
|
Earnings Call Sentiment|Positive
The call presents a predominantly positive operational and financial picture: strong FUMA growth, double‑digit underlying profit and EPS increases, improving Wealth Management flows, successful synergy delivery, robust capital position, and measurable progress on strategy, digital adoption, brand and client experience. Major challenges are centered on regulatory remediation costs (Skilled Person Review), H1 group net outflows (partly driven by Q1), continued pressure in the active asset management business, and a headwind to margins from the cessation of cash fees. Management has quantified the regulatory cost exposure, completed buybacks, and revised margin guidance (Q4 target lowered from 30.0% to 28.7%), and describes remediation as manageable and largely insured. Overall, positive operational momentum and financial improvement outweigh the notable but contained risks and headwinds.
Company Guidance
Guidance from the call stressed continued growth but a revised margin target: FUMA was £120.7bn (+10.7% y/y; +£5.1bn YTD), operating income £487.5m (+8.6%), underlying PBT £123.2m (+14.4%) with an operating margin of 25.3% (+1.3pp), statutory PBT £72.1m (+15.7%), underlying EPS £0.885 (+17.1%) and an interim dividend of £0.32 (+3.2%); H1 group net outflows were £0.9bn (Q1 £845m outflow; Q2 nearly neutral at £31m outflow; Wealth Management Q2 inflows £450m and underlying WM H1 inflow c.£0.5bn after exclusions). Management reiterated £76m of synergy delivery (adding ~£17m to H1 PBT), confirmed the Skilled Person Review incremental cost of ~£60m (portion recognized/committed) and remediation of ~4,700 EDD clients by year‑end; Salesforce is due end‑Q3 reducing tech costs by ~£6m in H2 (benefiting Q4). The cessation of cash charges will cut the Wealth fee margin by ~1.5bps and is a ~1.3pp headwind to H2 margin, so the Q4 margin target was revised from 30% to 28.7% (subject to c.3% FUMA growth, stable inflation and market rates); capital remains strong with a total capital ratio of 18.3% at 30 June and a £166m surplus after completing buybacks of >3.5m shares (~3.3%).
Strong FUMA Growth
Funds under management and advice (FUMA) reached GBP 120.7bn at 30 June, up 10.7% year‑on‑year and up 4.4% (GBP 5.1bn) since the start of 2026.
Income and Profit Growth
Operating income grew 8.6% to GBP 487.5m. Underlying profit before tax rose 14.4% to GBP 123.2m and statutory profit before tax increased 15.7% to GBP 72.1m.
Improved Margins and EPS
Operating margin improved by 1.3 percentage points to 25.3% in H1; underlying basic EPS increased 17.1% to GBP 0.885 per share.
Dividend Progression and Capital Returns
Interim dividend set at GBP 0.32 per share (up 3.2% vs 2025 interim). Completed share buybacks of over 3.5m shares (~3.3% of shares outstanding).
Synergy Delivery and Cost Discipline
Realized full benefit of GBP 76m synergy delivery (completed last year), which added ~GBP 17m to H1 PBT versus H1 2025; continued focus on cost discipline and targeted tech savings.
Advice and Financial Planning Momentum
Advice income grew 11.7% in H1. Financial planning clients rose ~3% in H1, financial planning income ~3% ahead of market, and financial planning penetration at 14% of FUMA.
Flows Improvement in Wealth Management
Wealth Management reported net inflows of GBP 450m in Q2 and was broadly neutral on net flows for H1; underlying Wealth Management net flows (ex short‑term/volatile execution‑only) were a GBP 0.5bn inflow for the half.
Investment Performance Metrics
Wealth Management outperformed ARC by 0.3% annualized over three years (0.2% over five years). Asset management: 71% of AUM outperformed benchmark over one year and 62% over three years.
Digital, Brand and Client Experience Gains
MyRathbones registrations exceed 60,000 with growing monthly usage and >30 platform enhancements. Trustpilot score improved to 5/5; NPS 56; website page views up ~68% (57,000 → 96,000). Share of voice rose to 23% in Tier 1 media.
AI and Colleague Productivity Adoption
Enterprise-approved AI usage rose >150% (from 22,000 to 56,000 hours/month). 90% of licensed Copilot users active in last 28 days; 46% use Copilot more than three days/week. Employee advocacy and engagement measures improved (employee advocacy 6.8 → 7.0).
Strong Capital Position
Total regulatory capital ratio of 18.3% at 30 June, representing a capital surplus of GBP 166m above minimum regulatory requirement; expectation that Skilled Person Review actions will be completed without impact on existing capital base.
