Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Cash Generation And Funding StabilityPositive operating cash flow, available liquidity and covenant-compliant refinancing provide RFG with greater funding certainty. This supports franchise investment, restructuring and working-capital needs while reducing near-term balance-sheet pressure.
Transformation And Cost ReductionCompleted restructuring and further cost reductions can permanently simplify RFG’s operating model and improve margins. Realized savings provide evidence of execution, while the larger FY27 target offers scope for stronger cash generation if retained.
Brand Revitalization PotentialThe refurbishment response indicates that targeted brand investment can improve store productivity and franchisee economics. Five further refurbishments are agreed, creating a repeatable opportunity to strengthen customer demand and outlet performance.
Bears Say
Revenue And Outlet Base ContractionFalling network sales and a smaller domestic outlet base reduce royalty, supply and franchise-related income opportunities. Continued closures also weaken brand scale, making it harder to spread support, marketing and infrastructure costs.
Coffee Cost And Margin PressureCoffee input volatility can compress gross margins before pricing is passed through, particularly across a franchise network. Although FY27 pricing may help, sustained cost pressure could challenge franchisee economics and limit margin durability.
Volatile Earnings QualityThe return to profit is encouraging but remains modest relative to revenue and follows substantial prior losses. Low operating profitability leaves limited protection against weaker demand, cost inflation or execution setbacks across the brand portfolio.
