Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Manufacturing Scale-upManagement's stated plan and capital allocation to expand wafer and assembly capacity to 1M units/month is a structural capability build. If executed, it enables steep unit-cost declines, supports high-volume AI/data-center demand and creates the operational scale needed to convert design wins into sustainable product revenue.
Balance-sheet StrengtheningA $400M capital raise materially reduces near-term liquidity risk and funds the capital-intensive ramp. This provides runway for capex, inventory buildup and R&D, lowering the probability of emergency dilutive financings and enabling multi-quarter investment in manufacturing and product qualification.
Strategic Customer PartnershipsAn initial $50M order and multi-year purchase framework with Lumilens, plus multiple active engagements, validate the POET interposer platform commercially. These partnerships offer predictable multi-year demand, co-development alignment, and the potential to drive meaningful and repeatable revenue as volumes scale.
Bears Say
Persistent Cash BurnSustained negative operating and free cash flow demonstrates the business consumes material cash to operate. Even with fresh capital, ongoing cash burn creates multi-quarter funding needs, constrains discretionary spending and raises execution pressure to convert pipeline revenue into positive cash generation.
Unprofitable Core EconomicsNegative gross profit and outsized operating losses indicate unit economics are not yet established. High R&D and SG&A relative to sales mean revenue growth alone hasn't delivered profitability; durable margin improvement requires meaningful scale or structural cost advantages that are not yet realized.
Customer Concentration & CancellationsA flagship customer order cancellation highlights counterparty, contract and concentration risk. Dependence on a few large buyers makes near-term revenue volatile and raises the stakes on successful qualification of other customers to replace lost volume and preserve planned manufacturing throughput.
