Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Refining Profitability And Operating ExecutionStrong refining margins, high capture rates, record throughput and safely completed outages demonstrate effective asset operations. This execution supports earnings resilience when regional supply, demand and crude-sourcing conditions are favorable.
Liquidity And Debt ReductionImproved liquidity and substantial debt reduction strengthen financial flexibility across the refining cycle. A less leveraged balance sheet can support maintenance spending, manage commodity volatility and preserve capital for core operations.
Portfolio Simplification And Capital RedeploymentExiting the non-controlling Laramie investment simplifies the portfolio and concentrates management attention on refining, logistics and retail. Expected proceeds could be redeployed into core assets or balance-sheet priorities after closing.
Bears Say
Cyclical Earnings And Uneven Cash ConversionRefining earnings and cash generation remain sensitive to margins, feedstock costs, outages and working capital. Historical negative cash flow and incomplete conversion of earnings into cash indicate that strong results may not persist through the cycle.
Hawaii Turnaround And Near-term Margin PressureThe turnaround temporarily reduces production and raises input costs while imported products replace refinery output. Although operationally planned, the event can suppress Q3 margins and cash generation, delaying the benefit of otherwise strong system throughput.
Higher Future Tax BurdenAs tax losses are consumed, Par Pacific will retain less of each dollar of pretax earnings. The structural shift to normal federal taxation could reduce future free cash flow and limit the pace of debt reduction or reinvestment.

Company Description
Par Pacific Holdings
Par Pacific Holdings, Inc. is an integrated energy and infrastructure company, managing diverse operations across three key divisions: Refining, Retail, and Logistics. Its Refining segment oversees three facilities that produce a variety of refined petroleum products, including ultra-low sulfur diesel, gasoline, jet fuel, marine fuel, distillates, asphalt, and low sulfur fuel oil. These outputs primarily supply markets in Hawaii, the Pacific Northwest, Wyoming, and South Dakota. The Retail division manages 119 fuel and convenience store locations. In Hawaii, these operate under the Hele, 76, and nomnom banners, offering both fuel and merchandise such as beverages, prepared foods, and other general sundries. Similar retail fuel and convenience offerings are provided in Washington and Idaho through locations branded Cenex, nomnom, and Zip Trip. The Logistics segment operates an extensive network for the distribution of refined products, comprising terminals, pipelines, a single point mooring system, and trucking services across Oahu, Maui, Hawaii, Molokai, and Kauai. This segment also includes leased marine vessels; a crude oil pipeline gathering system, a refined products pipeline, storage facilities, and loading racks in Wyoming; and a jet fuel storage facility and pipeline serving Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota. Additionally, it features a marine terminal, a unit train-capable rail loading terminal, storage facilities, a truck rack, and a proprietary pipeline serving Joint Base Lewis McChord. Established in 1984, the company was formerly known as Par Petroleum Corporation, rebranding to Par Pacific Holdings, Inc. in October 2015. Its corporate headquarters are situated in Houston, Texas.
PARR Earnings Call
Q2 2026
0:00 / 0:00
Earnings Call Sentiment|Positive
The call conveyed a strongly positive near-term financial and operational performance driven by exceptional refining margins and disciplined execution: substantial adjusted EBITDA ($571M), strong cash flow, record regional throughput and safe, on-time outages, improved liquidity (~$1.4B) and meaningful debt reduction (> $220M). Offsetting items include a concentrated Hawaii turnaround that will depress Q3 capture and require inventory builds (causing $312M working capital outflows), softer logistics and small retail fuel volume declines, regional outage-driven higher per-barrel costs (notably Wyoming), and the likely exhaustion of NOLs leading to higher taxes in 2027. On balance, the highlights materially outweigh the lowlights given the sizable earnings, balance sheet improvement, and operating execution demonstrated in the quarter.View all PARR earnings summariesPARR Stock 12 Month Forecast
